Project Title Renewable antibacterial barrier layer using nanocellulose-inorganic complex composites Supervisors: A/Prof. Warren Batchelor Prof. Phil Andrews Dr. Melissa Werrett Project Description Antimicrobial resistance hinders medication and treatment for many common infections caused by bacteria and other microorganisms. The aim of the research is to address this issue by ensuring infection control. The specific purpose of the project is to incorporate an inorganic complex which is a broad spectrum antibacterial agent into microfibrillated cellulose for the development of antibacterial barrier layer. This bactericidal paper can potentially prevent bacterial growth and reduce the spread of infections.
